Astroturf Sports Surface Laid at WCWEC Sports Centre

Work to complete the brand new sports facility at the Weligama Community Welfare and Education Centre has now been completed. Astroturf has been fully laid down, cricket nets have been put up and activities for IODR's 'Aim High' sports development programme are already being implemented.

'Aim High' seeks to supplement the education that WCWEC students already receive by affording them a much-needed opportunity to play and learn life skills. As the name suggests, Aim High seeks to reaffirm young people's drive and potential to accomplish themselves in wider society. Aim High's recreational activities also work to develop teamwork, discipline and self-confidence and reinforce the importance of good hygiene and nutrition.
