Hospitality Training

The construction of a new community building is underway at IODR’s Weligama site. Additional classrooms are being built to hold English Language and I.T. classes for students leaving the WCWEC, allowing them to develop vocational skills that will help lead to gainful employment in the future.

The new building will also hold a hospitality catering unit and professional training kitchen, both of which are intended to create employment opportunities for Weligama’s poorest individuals. It is hoped that this will assist in building up Weligama’s community capacity in the long term, by enabling the area’s most underprivileged residents to sustain themselves within their own local environment.
