The Asian Enterprise Charity Dinner, Sept 09

The unique Asian Enterprise Charity Dinner was hosted by Grange Hotels and Asian Enterprise Magazine, in aid of IODR and the Head and Neck Cancer Research Trust (HNCRT).

Featuring five of the UK’s best-known South Asian chefs – Vineet Bhatia, Vivek Singh, Cyrus Todiwala, Alfred Prasad and Sriram Aylur, three of whom have prestigious Michelin stars – this distinctive culinary event was held at the newly opened Grange St. Paul’s hotel and is the only time that all five chefs have cooked together, representing a world’s first.

Guests were treated to a mouth-watering 5-course dinner, with each chef preparing a signature dish on the night. Musical entertainment on the night included Nina Virdee from the renowned South Asian music festival ‘Darbar’, and talented solo artist Stephanie Benson, with her live Motown band.

Donations from the night have been pledged to expanding the activities of IODR in the Indian Ocean region, by building and operating centres to assist the most needy children from the ages of 2-16, and equipping them with the life skills necessary to sustain themselves in future. IODR funds will additionally be going towards assisting the 350,000 ‘internally displaced persons’ (IDPs) needing urgent assistance in the North and East of Sri Lanka – 30% of whom are orphaned, injured and traumatized children.
