IODR IN PARTNERSHIP

IODR has collaborated with several like-minded organisations in different parts of the Indian Ocean region, working for the benefit of the poorest and most needy children in society. Services to date have included school building and provision of basic amenities such as education and health care.

To date, IODR has worked with:

CHANCE TO SHINE
Affiliated to the Cricket Foundation, Chance to Shine seeks to develop crucial life skills and values in young people across Britain by ‘regenerating competitive cricket in state schools’.

IODR joined forces with Chance to Shine (and also fellow children’s charities Save The Children and PCA Benevolent Fund) in November 2005, recording a charity single to raise funds for victims and survivors of the 2005 Asia Earthquake. A film and sound crew were flown to Faislabad in Pakistan especially to record the single, along with a video.

The single is entitled ‘Jerusalem’, a cover of the famous hymn, and features the Ashes Test Series-winning England Cricket Team with British soprano Keedie.

BARMY ARMY
: Founded on their characteristic passion for the English cricket team, the Barmy Army has its own history of charity work and fundraising, notably working with organisations like IODR to bring cricket to young people in schools and around the world.

The Barmy Army has teamed up with the IODR to help expand the sports and leisure facilities at IODR's Community Welfare and Education Centre (WCWEC) in Weligama, southern Sri Lanka. The Centre's on-site sports facilities now include 3 cricket nets and a multi-purpose sports area for recreational use by WCWEC students and the wider community. MAGIC BUS
Magic Bus is an Indian sports development charity that seeks to promote sport and recreation as a means of combating the negative effects of poverty amongst Mumbai's slum children. Magic Bus UK (the organisation's UK arm) has previously worked with IODR, including during the annual 'Bombay Banquet' - a major dinner event designed to raise sporting awareness within the corporate sector. There are plans to collaborate with Magic Bus further on IODR's 'Aim High' programme.

ROTARY CLUB
With members in over 168 countries and regions worldwide, the Rotary Club is an impressively diverse volunteer organisation. The Club also has its own charity, the Rotary Foundation, which has funded several community development projects including education and health programmes and assisted with the alleviation of poverty in several areas around the world. IODR is presently helping the Rotary Club achieve its target of placing children into new schools in India.

ENGLAND CRICKET TEAM
Combining Asia's passion for sport with compassion, the England Cricket Team have lent their support to several of IODR's fundraising events. Most notably, the Ashes-winning team collaborated with British-born soprano Keedie Babb to record a cover version of the famous hymn 'Jerusalem' following the 2005 Asian Earthquake. Proceeds from the single were generously donated to IODR to support their aid efforts in the affected regions. Players from the England Cricket Team also visited IODR's Weligama Centre in Southern Sri Lanka. Click here to read more about it in the IODR newsletter.

KHAN PARTNERSHIP
Founded in 2004, the Khan Partnership has quickly established itself as a dynamic and progressive commercial law firm. The Partnership has received particular acclaim for its work in the field of tax litigation.
